A Family Tradition of Excellent Orthodontics
The
Alexander Discipline owes its name to two generations of the Alexander
family: Dr. C. Moody Alexander and his son, Cliff; and Dr. R.G.
"Wick" Alexander and his sons J. Moody and Chuck. They continue to live
the tradition of The Discipline in their own private practices in Texas and Colorado
and advancing the study of orthodontics through the lectures that they
regularly conduct around the world.
Dr.
C. Moody Alexander has been practicing orthodontics since 1960. He
graduated from the Orthodontic Department of the University
of Texas Dental Branch in Houston and practiced in Odessa,
Texas until 1975 when he moved to Dallas to start a new
practice and teach in the Orthodontic Department at Baylor College of
Dentistry. He was chairman of the department for ten years and still enjoys
teaching part-time.
“Dr. A” and his wife Freddie have three grown children, Cliff, Gigi and Wick. “Dr. Cliff” works with his dad
in the Highland Park
office and also has a practice in Coppell. He and his wife Casey have four
children. His daughter, Gigi, and her husband
Willie Hornberger live in Dallas and have three children. His
youngest son, Wick, and his wife Kristin have three children and live in Austin. He agrees that
“Grandchildren are the only thing in the world that is not
over-rated.” “Dr. A” was President of the Oasis Foundation
that created Freedom Park in Odessa and
was active in building Elena’s Children
Park in Dallas. He actively supports Texas Tech,
Dallas County Dental Society, Highland Park Presbyterian Church, and the Park
Cities Rotary Club (“Service above self”).
Dr.
R. G. "Wick" Alexander received his B.A. degree from Texas Tech University
in 1958. His dental degrees are from the University of Texas
Dental Branch; the D.D.S. in 1962, and the
M.S.D. in 1964. Dr. Alexander began the practice of orthodontics in Arlington, Texas, in 1964.He is a Clinical Professor of Orthodontics at
The University of Texas, New
York University,
and Baylor College of Dentistry. Dr. Alexander is recognized internationally
for his innovation in orthodontic procedures. He is well known for his work
in designing the Alexander Discipline, a system of Brackets placed on teeth,
which is used by orthodontists around the world. He has lectured
internationally on the Discipline as well as published many research papers
and articles in professional journals. In addition, Dr. Alexander has written
a textbook, "The Alexander Discipline", which has been translated
into several languages, and has written a new book, "20
Principles". In addition to his traveling and teaching, he continues to
maintain a practice in Arlington
where he lives with his wife, Janna.
Dr.
Chuck Alexander earned his Bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech
University, where he
loosened a few teeth as an Academic All-American defensive back on the Red
Raider football team. After obtaining his D.D.S. from Baylor College of
Dentistry in Dallas, he earned his M.S.D. in
1990 from the University
of Washington, Seattle,
one of the top orthodontic residency programs in the nation. From 1990
through 1995, Dr. Alexander was a practicing orthodontist in Arlington, Texas.
During this time, Dr. Chuck treated more than 1,500 patients and earned the
coveted C.T. Rowland Award in 1995 for outstanding clinical treatment. Dr.
Alexander has lectured in several states, as well as in Mexico, Canada
and Russia.
He is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontics, a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, and has
published many articles in trade journals. Doctor and his wife, Keri, have
three children, Mac, Blake and Kellyn. An avid
outdoorsman, he and his family chose the Western Slope as the place to
continue creating “super Alexander smiles.” He is currently
teaching in the University
of Colorado.
Dr.
J. Moody Alexander joined the practice in the summer of 1995. After
graduating from Arlington High School, he headed to Texas Tech
University and earned
his Pre-Dental degree. He chose at that point to join the staff of Campus
Crusade for Christ, an interdenominational Christian ministry. He served with
Campus Crusade for three years at the University
of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Working with college students, he further
developed his relationship building skills and love for people.
Dr. Moody then returned to Texas and
received his dental degree (DDS) and orthodontic degree (MS) from Baylor
College of Dentistry in Dallas.
He is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontics as well as
the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists. Dr. Moody also is a member of the
Texas Tweed Study Club. In 2002, he won the study’s prestigious C.T.
Rowland Award for outstanding new member. Most recently Dr. Moody became a
diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics, a status attained by only 25%
of practicing orthodontists. He is currently a Clinical Professor in the
Orthodontic Department of Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas.
Dr. Moody and his wife, Emily are proud parents of two boys, Hill and Wick,
and two daughters, Avery and Isabelle. They are active members of the
Arlington Presbyterian Church. They enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors
as a family, and going to Texas Rangers games. Dr. Moody spends considerable
time being involved in the community, specifically with the Downtown Rotary
Club, Arlington Chamber of Commerce and Dental Health for Arlington, of which he has been president
of the Board of Directors.
Dr.
Cliff Alexander grew up in Dallas and
graduated from Highland Park
High School. After
receiving his BBA degree from St. Edwards in Austin
he moved to Santa Barbara,
California to join a consulting
firm. While there, he began to see the business side of dentistry as many of
his clients were in the dental field. He realized that dentistry could
satisfy his goals in business as well as his first objective of being of
service to the people. So he decided to go back to school with the goal of
entering dental school, and then of being accepted to orthodontic residency.
He graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1993 and from St. Louis
Department of Orthodontics in 1996. He was asked to join the part-time
faculty in St. Louis
in 2000 where he lectures on the Alexander Discipline and oversees
orthodontic patient care once a month. He currently sees patients in both the
Coppell and Dallas offices.
